About the 2,000
Days Pledge

Families are a child's first teacher, and home is their first classroom.

For families who have taken the Pledge, 2,000 Days provides ongoing information that includes activities at home, tips on everyday parenting and ways to partner with preschool teachers. These suggestions are designed to cost no money and require no additional time. This information can be received through text messages and emails.

It’s never too late to start! Every child before age five can benefit from this support. Families face many choices during this time – both small and large – all of which play an important role in a child’s development and preparation for school.

Don’t worry, you’re not alone. 2,000 Days is here to help along the way with information and resources to support the best future possible for your child.

Extensive research throughout the past three decades has shown repeatedly that high-quality early childhood development produces many near-term and long-term effects on a child’s cognitive and social development. By positively engaging a child from birth, and on through kindergarten, elementary school readiness increases significantly and the chances for success throughout high school and career grow exponentially.

About Photos

Unlike any other period in life, a child’s first 2,000 days are met with new experiences that shape future ambition, inspiration, wonder, determination, confidence, purpose, intellect, curiosity, hope, trust, pride, creativity, understanding, compassion, ingenuity, fortitude, adventure, empathy, behavior, motivation, aptitude, thoughtfulness, reflection, imagination, kindness, consideration…And success.

The hidden potential within every child during this time significantly impacts future reading and math comprehension, kindergarten readiness, school aptitude, retention rates, high school graduation rates, employment, matriculation, college graduation, continuing education, sustainability, economic stability and ongoing social advancement.

Program Reach

The 2,000 Days Pledge can't be successful on its own.

Instead, the movement is focused on promoting early childhood development with the help of partner agencies that provide families with more individualized support on a case-by-case basis.

By engaging as many families as possible through the Pledge, 2,000 Days lends its voice to partner organizations to help them communicate individual missions more effectively and to larger, more targeted audiences.
